Check whether self-referral is accepted or whether a GP referral is needed before booking. Confirm how payment works — up front, on the day, or billed afterwards — and whether health funds can be billed directly. Find out whether the first assessment leads to a home sleep test or an in-lab overnight study, and how long results take. Ask who reviews the study results and when you will be told what they show. Find out whether the practice runs a structured sleep programme and how many sessions it involves. Ask what to bring: a medication list, any referral letter, a sleep diary, and results from earlier studies. Confirm the cancellation policy, since missed-appointment fees differ between clinics. Confirm fees, availability and location directly with the practice, as directory listings are not updated in real time.
